Let’s Help One Another During This Pandemic – A Letter Regarding COVID-19

We'll Get Through This

Dear Flower Friends,

As our planet experiences the effects of COVID-19, we want to reassure you that we are positioned to continue our long tradition of being there for you. Our partner relationship with you, means maintaining consistent and frequent open lines of communication, while working towards alleviating any possible impact to you and your customers. Let it be clear that our focus, dedication, and support are unwavering as we navigate these unique times.

During this period, Stevens and Son is going to adhere to the following policy regarding pre-orders. We will contact you to confirm orders the week prior to your ship date.  Your written and/or verbal confirmation shall serve as the final go ahead and we will ship on the specified date of your order. In return, we ask that you please give us as much advance notice as possible of any changes to your standing orders and/or event orders to allow us time to quickly coordinate with our vendors.

We have communicated to all our team members that their health and safety, as well as our partners, is our highest priority. As part of this communication we issued to our employees the attached guidance for illness prevention from the Centers for Disease Control with the website provided here for your convenience. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

The prospect of people spending more time at home in the coming weeks is precisely where we, as a floral industry, can help play an important role. Flowers are the unifying symbol of joy, beauty, cheerfulness, and healing. Flowers have a positive effect on overall health, they are a mood booster, and a stress reducer. Flowers have the capability to fulfill a deep yearning for peace and joy in the hearts and souls of the consumer particularly at this time.

A Rutgers University study conducted several years ago, indicated that flowers bring happiness. Emphasizing the essential value of flowers in the home as an everyday gift, or for self-use, will help provide joy, brightness, hope, and even healing. Flowers will help counteract the negative messages and darkness that is prevalent at this very moment. Flowers will ease troubled minds and bring peace to hearts and souls in these uncertain times.

You may wonder what can be done to help: here are some ideas that can be implemented:

  • Use of In-Store Communication about the transforming power of flowers.
  • Educational material is available down below which you can immediately download and begin to use (by clicking the picture) to communicate the health benefits of flowers with your staff and customers.
  • Capitalize on the reach of Social Media to be promoting the (health) benefits of flowers across all social media channels.

Let’s take this historic moment in time as a defining opportunity to prove that flowers can and will change lives. In the meantime, stay safe and stay well.

The “Stevens and Son” Family
