Eucomis comosa is also known as Pineapple Lily. The pictured hybrid is a newer variety called Sparkling Burgundy. Its flowers begin to opening at the bottom of the stem working their way upwards until they reach the pineapple like foliage sitting atop the flower stem.

Pineapple Lilies are only available for a couple of weeks during the summer.
