This beautiful hybrid flower is botanically known as Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora which is a cross between Crocosmia aurea and Crocosmia pottsii. Montbretia was originally native to the grasslands of Southern Africa and is a member of the Iris family. Montbretia is a tall flower with long blade like leaves. The flowers buds look similar to Freesia buds and open from the bottom working to the top of the spike. Bunches are usually long measuring 24" to 36" or more.

Montbretia has a vase life of 7 to 14 days depending on bud stage and environmental conditions. Montbretia is ethylene sensitive.
