Straw
Flower was originally native to Australia. It is botanically known
as Bracteantha bracteata. Formerly Helichrysum bracteatum.
Stevens and Son grows Straw Flower as a late summer crop. Bunches
are quite long often times over three foot in length and sleeved
with 5 stems per bunch. The flowers are straw like in feel and
appearance. Straw Flowers air dry very well. Dried flower heads
may need wire support.
This small mass flower has a vase life
of 7 to 10 days depending on bud stage and environmental
conditions.
