Bells
of Ireland is botanically known as Moluccella laevis. Another
common name for Bells of Ireland is "Shell Flower".
Bells of Ireland was originally native to the Mediterranean region
thru Northern India. This very unusual flower produces fragrant,
tiny white flowers within the green "bells" (calyces).
The calyces of Bells of Ireland have small thorns which can give a
mild bite. Bells of Ireland are considered a large line flower
that is very popular for Saint Patrick's Day. Vase life varies
from 7 to 10 days depending on age and environmental conditions.
