"King Protea" is botanically know as Protea cynaroides. Like Queen Protea... King Protea is commercially grown in Australia and Hawaii. It is a large Protea that is quite heavy with a strong stem and thick leathery leaves. King Protea can be safely kept in the cooler with other flowers providing the temperature is at or above 36 degrees. Vase life is excellent... with the flowers lasting 10 to 14 days. King Protea flowers dry quite well. To air dry Protea, just hang them upside down in a dark area.
