Stevens and Son Wholesale Florist was founded in 1966 by Paul Stevens. The Stevens family mainly grew Colorado Carnations which were sent to the local wholesale florist for distribution. Back then Colorado was know as the “Carnation Capitol of the World”.
In 1977 the company was purchased by its current owner… Bruce Daniel. It’s still a family business with Bruce and his son Dana… managing the day to day operations. Today the company has grown to become one of Colorado’s largest full service wholesale florists. We have over 100,000 square feet of greenhouse space which houses our corporate office, well as the base for production of our own crops.
Stevens and Son is the largest grower of Oriental and Asiatic Lilies in the Rocky Mountain region. We also grow several varieties of: Alstroemeria, Dahlias, Freesia, Anemone, Iris, Matsumoto Asters, Ranunculus, Snapdragons, Sunflowers, Tulips, Spring Hanging Baskets, and Patio Pots.
We receive large shipments of cut flowers from global sources daily… with our primary receiving days being Sunday’s and Wednesday’s. Our seasoned receiving crew immediately hand process every shipment. Each bunch of flowers is given a fresh cut… and placed in clean buckets of Aquafresh before being moved to our 6,000 square feet of cooler space.
Roses are given extra special treatment. Each 25 stem bunch is given a fresh cut and promptly dipped in Quick Dip… to speed the hydration process, then dated to ensure freshness.
We believe in running a clean operation. Before the morning delivery run… our drivers clean buckets daily in hot soapy water using our “Home Made” bucket cleaning machine. Buckets are washed inside and out and then moved by a pallet jack to the receiving area. Our coolers are also cleaned daily. At the end of each day the receiving crew consolidates the cooler. The floors are swept, then mopped with a disinfectant solution as an extra measure to ensure freshness and quality.
Every department at Stevens and Son is managed with up most in care. We strongly believe that if we do the job right at our end, it will help to…
“Make you a Success!”
