This medium mass flower is a member of the Onion family. The large leafless stems of Alliums are sturdy  creating strong vertical lines in the arrangement. Working with the flower releases its Onion order, which does not tend to linger. Vase life ranges between 5 to 7 days.

Drumstick Allium is botanically known as Allium sphaerocephalon. It is actually a member of the Amaryllis family. As with all Allium’s, Drumstick Allium has a light onion odor. The flower heads on the pictured specimen are tight, but will open from the top down reveling a cluster of small light purple flowers. Vase life is 7 to 10 days or longer depending on environmental conditions.
