Chelone
(chee-lone)
Chelone obliqua is commonly known as Turtle Heads. The Greek word Chelone means tortoise, in this case referring to the flowers which look similar to a turtle’s head… thus its common name. Turtle Heads can be found growing wild throughout North America and are a popular garden plant that is winter hardy in Colorado.
