Heliconias belong to a large family of very unique plants native to tropical regions of South America, southern Asia, and the Pacific Islands. Heliconia is available with various flower head sizes, shapes and colors… in upright and cascading forms. Vase life of this exotic form flower is 10 to 14 days. Heliconia needs to be kept warmer than your every day flowers… with a preferred temperature of 65 degrees.

Heliconia (Hanging)

Hanging Heliconia is botanically known as Heliconia rostrata. This exotic tropical flower is native to South America and can be found from Columbia to Peru, but is mainly imported from Hawaii. Mature plants can reach heights of 10 feet.

Hanging Heliconia also goes by the name of “Hanging Lobster Claw”. Stems are quite long often measuring between 48″ to 60″ in overall length. Each stem produces a single flower which weeps downward. This large from flower requires a warmer temperature than your every day flowers… with a preferred temperature of 65 degrees. Vase life is excellent… with the flowers lasting 10 to 14 days depending on age and environmental conditions.

Heliconia Sexy Pink is a hybrid cross. Sexy Pink is one of the most eye-catching Heliconia’s that we’ve seen. With it’s pastel pink, cream and green blossoms it’s sure to win a place in your next tropical arrangement. Vase life is 10 to 14 days depending on bud stage and environmental conditions. Heliconia Sexy Pink needs to be kept warmer than your everyday flowers with a preferred temperature of 60 to 65 degrees.
