This breath taking Protea is called Waratah. Its actually not a Protea, but a member of the Proteaceae family. Waratah is botanically known as Telopea speciosissima. It is the floral emblem for the Australian state, New South Wales. The pictured Waratah is shown freshly cut. The red inflorescences will open and spread similar to a Pincushion Protea.
