Mardi Gras Monte Casino begins its life at the farm just like any other Aster crop, except to produce “Mardi Gras” the plants are cut back. This forces the plant to produce several long lateral shoots off the main stem. A bunch of “Mardi Gras” Monte only has four major stems, but each major stem has five laterals yielding 20 useable stems per bunch. “Mardi Gras” products cost a bit more per bunch than regular Monte but offer the retail florist an additional ten stems which makes this product an exceptional buy.
Vase life is good with Monte “Mardi Gras” stems lasting 7 to 10 days depending on bud stage and environmental conditions.
